New Orleans Day Trip

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

Outfit Details:

At least once a month, I try to take a day trip down to New Orleans. No matter how many places I travel to, New Orleans is always one of my favorite places to visit! Nothing compares to the food, culture, and fun in NOLA.

I've started an Instagram Stories Highlight on my Instagram page titled "New Orleans" in case you want to see videos and pics from when I visit from now on!

Here's what we did this past Sunday...

FOOD:

We tried out a restaurant in the Warehouse District called Peche, and it was SO FREAKING GOOD! I was super hesitant about this place because it's mainly seafood, which isn't something I eat often. But y'all... I left so stuffed and so happy.

For our appetizer, we got fried bread with sea salt (I know, that sounds so gluttonous and fatty, but that's just how Louisiana rolls) and some crab claws.

For my entree, I did the baked drum. They serve it in a skillet with mushroom broth, and my taste buds were on cloud nine! Definitely some of the best fish I've ever had in my life! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

DRINKS:

A day in New Orleans isn't complete without some drinks, am I right? Drinking is basically Louisiana's state sport. (As a born and raised Louisianian, I'm allowed to say that 😉)

We stopped by The Saint Hotel to have some drinks at their bar. This hotel's decor is so cool! They definitely play off the angel versus devil theme. Their bar (The Burgundy Bar) is all dark red and black, and the restaurant (Tempt) is bright white and airy. We got our drinks at the bar, but I snapped the photo below at the restaurant for better lighting!

ENTERTAINMENT:

Our entertainment for the evening was a jazz concert at the infamous Saenger Theatre. I was definitely a couple decades younger than most the people there, haha. But it was a great performance with some incredibly talented musicians!

(Side bar: I'm looking at the calendar for upcoming shows at the Saenger and just noticed Theresa from Long Island Medium is coming next month... who's down to go with me?? I love her show! Here's hoping one of my great great grandmothers comes through to tell me she reads my blog, haha.)

I'll be in New Orleans again on the Fourth of July, so I'll be sure to blog about that day, too! And maybe film a YouTube vlog? Stay tuned!

Karli

First Ever Youtube Video!

Thursday, June 21, 2018

After years and years of watching YouTubers, I decided to jump in and try my hand at it! Although my love of YouTube started with makeup tutorials, these days I find myself watching vlogs more than anything! For those who aren't familiar with vlogs, they're basically a video where you follow along what the person is doing... whether it's a day in the life, a weekly vlog, or some cool vacation! (Hopefully I can start making fun travel vlogs!)

I'm definitely new to video making and editing, so be a little forgiving on this first video ;) ha! Follow along as I take you to date night and some fun blogger events... And don't forget to subscribe to my channel to stay updated on any new videos I post!

Polka Dot Dress for Spring

Sunday, March 25, 2018

Outfit Details:
Earrings (c/o)
Purse (currently sold out, but found a similar version here!)
Shoes are old from ASOS, but here are similar styles: 1, 2, 3

Happy Spring, y'all!

This is officially my first blog post of the spring season, and I'm so excited it's about this darling polka dot dress! My friends over at Pink Lily Boutique sent it to me and I wanted to show y'all how I styled it.

I've been obsessed with throwing my denim jacket over basically every outfit I wear. I feel like it adds a classic cool vibe to every look!

For my purse, I knew I wanted to debut this beauty I bought from Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago. I waited a little too long to wear it, and it's sold out at the moment :(  However, it was a little on the pricier side anyway, so here is a super similar one for less than half the price!

My exact shoes are from ASOS last year, but I linked some similar ones above! I love that platform sandals are still in this season; it's perfect for shorties like me!

Yellow Floral Maxi for Spring

Thursday, March 8, 2018

Outfit Details:
Sam Edelman platform slides (last season)

Spring is finally coming back into our lives and I am PUMPED. I am a huge fan of flirty sundresses and floral motifs. This lovely yellow maxi caught my eye when I was on Lulu's website the other day and I had to have it!

I paired it with the bamboo bag that every blogger has been sporting lately (and for good reason!). This bag is so cute and turns every outfit up a notch. The original bag that hit the scene last season (by Cult Gaia) is upwards of $200, but the one I bought is only $44! I love a good dupe.

Now I'm so excited to shop for more spring looks after shooting this one! What are you guys excited to wear this spring? I'd love to hear!

P.S. I'm linking some more floral maxis below!

Karli
