Beauty Faves: August 2016

Thursday, August 4, 2016

Hey everyone!

Chelle and I have rounded up some of our current beauty favorites that we wanted to share with you all. We love reading other blogger's beauty posts and watching makeup tutorials on Youtube, so we decided it would be fun to incorporate beauty into the blog as well! If you have any current beauty faves you want to share with us, let us know in a comment below. We love trying out new products:)

Karli's Favorites

Kylie Lipkit: I'll admit, I was not that interested in Kylie's lip kits at first because I didn't think they could be *that* great. But eventually I caved in and bought two lip kits, and now I see what all the hype is about!

'Candy K' is definitely my favorite shade. These are great for occasions where you will be taking lots of photos because they really make your lips pop. And you won't have to worry about reapplying because these suckers last all day. My only suggestion is to keep your lips exfoliated and moisturized because, as with any matte lip product, it can cause a drying effect.

Each lip kit comes with a lip liner and a liquid matte lipstick. And I can't lie, I'm a sucker for cool packaging.

Anastasia Brow Studio: I have a serious love for Anastasia. This company is the end-all, be-all of eyebrow products. I mean, Anastasia herself does Kim K's eyebrows - that's how you know you're big time! I just recently purchased this brow kit during the big Nordstrom sale that all of us bloggers freak out over ;) So far, I'm loving it.  It comes with a double-sided brush: one side is for applying the "dip brow pomade" product, and the other side is a spooly to comb out your brows. The dipbrow pomade is made to be waterproof and smudge-proof; it works great on oily skin and in humidity! And the silver tube is a brow gel that holds your brows in place all day long.

Available here: Nordstrom sold out of this particular set, but they have a 5-piece set here. You can also purchase the pomade individually here (I have the shade 'dark brown'), the brush here, and the brow gel here.

Living Proof No Frizz Styling Cream: I live in Louisiana, where it is 300% humidity at all times... which is a nightmare for girls like me with naturally wavy/frizzy hair! But this product by Living Proof really helps me to combat the frizz. I apply it after I shower when my hair is still wet (mainly at the ends) and blow-dry hair as normal.

Anastasia Contour Kit: Yet another Anastasia product :) If you have been following the blog for a while, you may remember first seeing this contour kit in our Christmas Haul Post. It is now August and look how much product I still have left! I really do love and recommend this product. I mix together the two outter brown colors to contour my cheekbones, forehead, nose, and jaw line. I use the top middle color (slightly yellowish) to set my under eye concealer. And I use the top right color to highlight the inner corners of my eyes and the bridge of my nose.

Available here: Sephora (I use the shade 'light to medium'). I apply it with this brush by Kat Von D.

Michelle's Favorites

Lancome Absolue Eye Serum: I have only been using this product for a couple of weeks and so far love the silky texture of this serum. The eye area feels hydrated and glowing. The serum is designed to use above the eyebrow, contour, and under eye. I can't wait to see the results after a few more weeks.

Available here: Lancome

Lancome High Resolution Eye Refill 3x: This cream impressed me after one use! Very hydrating and visibly reduced wrinkles. I layer this on top of the Absolue Eye Serum. I suggest using day and night.

Marc Jacobs Remedy Concealer Pen: So in love!! This concealer provides beautiful, hydrating coverage and contains powerful antioxidants. My eyes look fresh and bright. And the applicator is very cool on contact to reduce puffiness. I use the color 'Wake Up Call.'

Available here: Sephora

Givenchy Prisme Libre Powder: This is one serious mattifying and color-correcting loose powder. I use 'Taffetas Beige' which contains beautiful shades of beige, apricot and yellow which is great to hide hyper-pigmentation. The container is also so pretty and looks beautiful on the vanity!

Available here: Sephora

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder: Wow, this product is wonderful! So light and airy and perfectly sets my Marc Jacobs under eye concealer. It instantly lightens and brightens my eye area. A little goes a long way.

Available here: Sephora
